Benson’s tennis court behind the school is getting a renovation for both tennis players and people who would like to watch the tennis games.
This renovation was not a thoughtless decision; there was planning involved with it. It will allow for an enjoyable experience for people who are watching the games.
“The renovation was planned by the Benson Foundation and Melinda Bailey,” Athletic Director Deondre Jones said. “It was time for the tennis court to get a renovation after a little while.”
The tennis court renovation is important for both the tennis players and students, but some might be curious about what this renovation has to offer.
“The renovation has been finished, but later on, the focus will be shifted to better seating,” Jones said. “The seatings are planned to be outside of the court on the hill, and brick slabs will be added to the hill near the parking lot so people can sit and watch.”
Of course, the renovation isn’t just for people who watch the games. They will add improvements for the players who play inside the courts.
“The renovation for the court has added two more nets for the tennis players to play in,” Jones said. “This will allow more people to play tennis inside the court with four, instead of it just having two areas.”
Since this tennis court renovation is still in progress, He has been looking forward to the renovation with how it’s going and he hopes others will be looking forward to it as well.
“I’m looking forward to the renovation because people had to sit on the grass or even get their own chairs to be able to watch the games themselves,” Jones said. “With the renovation, a lot more people will get to play instead of it being just two courts to play in.”
The tennis courts are not just for play, they are also for show. Students should care about the area outside of the court.
“Students should care about the renovation because the tennis court area is beautiful,” Jones said. “It can also allow them to watch the tennis players play because the area looks a lot more appealing.”
All these renovations to the tennis court may seem small compared to other events and changes around the school, but it is important for everyone else too.
“It is important for the community to have an easier time playing or watching tennis,” Jones said. “It allows students to play a lot better and even encourage a lot more to play for it.”
