Balancing after-school events and life may be a hard task, but not for sophomore Eh Moe Say, a student who shows that whether you enjoy something or not, there is always a reason to show appreciation.
Say is a wrestler who wants to become stronger and better at winning matches by never giving up. After school in the new gym, Say wrestles and practices daily to reach that goal.
“I get to prove that I can win games during the actual match and that I have made a lot of progress,” Say said.
Competitions are important to Say because it represents all his practice and progress that he has made. He is a student that is always confident and brings himself fully engaged when in the wrestling mat.
Wrestling may seem difficult to others, but to Say, it is a great way for him to push himself even further no matter who he is up against.
“Wrestling stands out to me because it’s the hardest,” Say said. “This means I must practice harder, and it is independent so I can’t rely on my friends.”
Even when wrestling gets hard, Say copes with the pressure in his own way and focuses on the present.
“I deal with stress by sitting while taking deep breaths before going to a match because it helps me calm down,” Say said.
Say’s wrestling team is another way that brings enjoyment to his personal growth, supporting him every day.
“My team treats me like a brother, no matter the outcome of my games,” Say said.
Wrestling is not the only hobby that interests Say, but also the beauty of the world.
“Other than wrestling, I sometimes go hunting and fishing with my family, as well as gardening in my own personal time,” Say said.
Say is a student who strives for excellence and is determined to become a better person every day, whether that be wrestling or his personal life.
