A common question that has been asked is if people should decorate for Christmas before Thanksgiving, and in my opinion, you should not.
After Halloween, there are a bunch of houses around my neighborhood hanging up Christmas decorations. It seems to be a trend every year and there is never a reason for it.
Someone could decorate way too early, especially if it is right after Halloween when stores have a ton of Christmas decorations already prepared.
It is understandable if you like Christmas, but it is not when Thanksgiving usually starts when you would usually prepare for it. It is unnecessary to put up lights, trees and a bunch of decorations when it has not even snowed yet.
From my experience, my parents have always hung-up Christmas decorations around when Halloween is over, but they never had a reason, other than Christmas being next month.
It makes sense on paper, but the issue is they would be sitting around for a while, and they could be forgotten within a few weeks before Thanksgiving.
Another reason why I think decorating before Christmas is not reasonable is the amount of time there is between thanksgiving and Christmas
It feels excessive to be preparing that early for a holiday in December. Most of the time, the decorating ends up looking lazy and unfinished, which makes it pointless to decorate before Thanksgiving.
I do not hate decorating for Christmas, but it feels too early to decorate before it even is Thanksgiving, and it ruins the fun of decorating for Christmas when it is the same time you would need to prepare for Thanksgiving as well.
