Homecoming is rapidly approaching once again. Benson students have the chance to attend the homecoming dance at Benson on Sept. 20 from 7-10 p.m.
The homecoming theme is “Tangled” and tickets are available for purchase during the week of homecoming. Tickets are $15 each. Tickets can be purchased in the cafeteria during lunch, and a student ID is needed to enter the dance.
There are a few requirements that students need to meet to be eligible to attend homecoming.
“In order to attend homecoming, if you have any first semester suspensions for fighting or drugs, you cannot come at all,” assistant principal and activities director Kristen Hughes said. “But if you have C’s or higher in all classes, or if you have fewer than five total absences as of September 12, you are eligible to attend.”
If a student has a friend or partner that goes to a different school, he/she can attend Benson’s homecoming with you.
“Students from other schools will need to fill out the guest form to attend Benson’s homecoming,” Hughes said.
Students can pick up guest forms in room 138 or the cafeteria through Sept. 10-18. Guest forms are due 3:05 p.m. on Sept. 18.
Homecoming may just seem like a dance that happens every school year, but it has a deeper meaning.
“The purpose of homecoming is to offer students an opportunity to come together and celebrate and strengthen the bond of the Benson school community,” Hughes said.
Homecoming is a time for students to come together to have fun, take a break from schoolwork and celebrate academic achievements.
