Registry for dual enrollment started on Aug. 18. Benson students interested in going to college now have the opportunity to register and get a head start to earning college credits before the deadline on Sept. 26 at 11:59 p.m.
“Students at Benson can take dual enrollment to earn college credits while taking high school classes, at no cost to them,” sports medicine dual enrollment teacher Nathanael O’Reilly said.
Entering into the dual enrollment program saves time and money on college and makes the transition from high school to college easier through introducing college-level work. Signing up is easy and can be completed online.
“You create an account through UNO’s website, applydual.unomaha.edu, enter your information and OPS pays the bill,” O’Reilly said.
The requirements for dual enrollment are simple and easy to meet.
“You need to have a GPA of at least 3.0,” O’Reilly said. “But they make exceptions.”
Usually, if O’Reilly sees that a student in one of his classes is doing well, he can make an exception even if their GPA is below a 3.0.
