Athletes Moving Out-of-State for Sports

Watching other players play is hard for athletes. For some, this is their last year to play and for others this is their debut. Due to COVID-19, they are unable to play and because of this some have decided to move out of state.

Places like Alabama, Delaware, and Florida are some of many states who are allowing fall sports. But places like California, Illinois, and Maryland aren’t allowing it.

“I moved because I wanted to play sports again,” senior Alvin Burgess said. “I loved living in Omaha, but not playing sports isn’t going to help me get into college.”

Burgess wanted to stay, but OPS wasn’t allowing sports and thought that spring was too late to start.
