Downtown Protest
September 16, 2020
Protests here, protests there, protests everywhere, especially over police brutality. What was used to be uncommon is now an everyday occurrence in the Old Market.
Even though the protests in Omaha have been calm compared to that of other cities, the Omaha Police issued a reminder on Wednesday, Sept. 3. of city ordinances related to public protest stating that protesters may gather on public sidewalk without a permit if they do not intentionally block the sidewalks or driveways.
The police also stated that marching on a public street requires a permit and that entering a street without a permit is unsafe and illegal. Violators are subject to arrest.
