Former Teacher Writes Book

John Beecham went from being an English teacher here at Benson to a published author.
After months of hard work, his book, “Saving Emily Dickinson”, was released on August 9.
Saving Emily Dickinson is about a young girl named London Yardley who lives in a post-apocalyptic world set in Omaha, Nebraska.
“Her dog, Emily Dickinson, gets kidnapped by pirates and now London must set off into the world to find her dog,” Beecham said.
You can find his book on Amazon as well the Bookworm in Omaha. It is now also available in the library here at Benson.
Beecham has two more books he has planned to write here soon.
One of them is about and eighth grade boy who collects baseball cards and finds one that gives him super powers. The other book is about a teacher who works at an Omaha high school who makes it their goal to be fired.
“I really love these ideas and I think they will make a splash around here,” Beecham said.
Neither of the books have a release date planned, but hopefully we will see these books on the shelves soon.
Though he isn’t a full-time teacher, Beecham still teaches for the district, as a substitute. Beecham will be around Benson about once every other week, covering for a teacher who is unable to be there to teach their class.
Whenever he is in the building he tends to carry a few copies of his book with him for the students, teachers, and staff to buy. He will even offer his books to students at a discount.
If you do see him walking around the building don’t be afraid to ask to buy a copy or even talk to him about any of his other upcoming books. He will gladly talk your ear off with all his ideas.
For anyone who is interested in a new and fun read, Saving Emily Dickinson is a great next read and a cool way to support a teacher from Benson.
